OxyTOTE portable oxygen units onsidered defective product

OxyTOTE Portable Oxygen Units are being recalled due to certain safety concerns. They are used in New York and throughout the world to regulate a patient's breathing in clinics, hospitals and even nursing homes. Reportedly, this apparent defective product could ignite when handled improperly or accidentally dropped. This can cause an internal flash fire, causing the canister to burst.

So far, the company has receive two incidents reports regarding this particular defect. One person was injured and another is now deceased. During the incident that resulted in an injury, the oxygen unit had fell four feet. During the incident that resulted in a death, the unit had simply been set down beside him.

Health care professionals and others are encouraged to check all OxyTOTE units in their possession to see if they are affected by this recall. If they are, then it is crucial that OxyTOTE is notified immediately to schedule for the replacement or repair of the defective product. It appears that most of the units impacted by the recall were constructed prior to the beginning of Oct. 2014.

New York victims who have suffered any adverse health effects as a result of a dangerous or defective product do have legal rights. Financial relief may be sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost income and other damages due to any burns or other injuries that may have been caused. While a successful claim will not reverse the injuries, it may provide one with a monetary judgment that can assist in obtaining financial relief with medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and other related damages.
