Single- and two-vehicle accidents can result in some serious injuries, and even fatalities in extreme cases. However, motor vehicle accidents that involve multiple vehicles are much more likely to be laden with life-changing consequences for the victims and their families. A four-vehicle collision in New York has recently resulted in eight individuals being sent to the hospital and three individuals losing their lives.
Apparently, the crash took place one recent afternoon. An SUV was traveling north on the roadway when it hit the center median embankment for unknown reasons. This resulted in the sport utility vehicle being sent into the air and eventually striking two cars that were traveling south on the same road. A third vehicle that was also southbound ended up crashing into the other involved automobiles.
Three individuals died as a result of the crash, although names have not been released yet. It is also not clear what vehicles these individuals were in. Two individuals were treated at the hospital and released. At another hospital, there were five individuals in stable condition and one in critical condition.
The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this time. However, authorities are investigating. If negligence is proved, the information that is gathered during this investigation may be particularly helpful to the families of the individuals who were killed if they decide to pursue wrongful death suits and the injured victims if they opt to file a personal injury claims. These types of lawsuits are common in New York fatal and non-fatal motor vehicle accidents because, if successful, they can help provide the families or victims with financial relief for the losses and damages that were incurred as a result of the accident.
