Andrew J. Smiley
By the age of six Andrew J. Smiley had already decided on his life's work. He determined early on that he wanted to become a lawyer so that he could work alongside his father arguing before juries and advocating the rights of those who had been harmed by the negligence of others.
After graduating with honors in Psychology from Tulane University in 1993, he attended Brooklyn Law School, from which he received his J.D. in 1996. Ambitious to excel as a litigator, he saw Brooklyn Law School, alma mater for many of New York City's most prominent trial attorneys, as his best avenue for achieving this objective.
Among his many achievements and honors as a student at Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Smiley received an award for excellence in the field of Advanced Legal Research; he represented the school in a national appellate moot court competition; he was an Executive Board member of the Moot Court Honor Society, in charge of Intramural and Intermural trial competitions; he was the student coach of the School's National Trial Team, co-champions for the Northeast Region of the U.S. and representative of the region in the U.S. National Finals in Houston, Texas. Today he continues as an active alumnus at Brooklyn Law School where he has coached law students on the moot court national trial teams as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor of Law.
He joined the firm full time in September 1996, having worked summers beginning in 1989 during high school and through his college years. Admitted to the New York State and Federal Bars in January, 1997, he won his first jury verdict less than one month later. Since that time Mr. Smiley has obtained hundreds of settlements and verdicts on behalf of the clients of Smiley Law.
At the age of 25 he became one of the youngest guest commentators to appear on CNN's widely viewed Burden of Proof. He has been interviewed and quoted by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, The New York Law Journal and CNN.
The many organizations in which he is currently active including serving as an associate board member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The American Bar Association and the National Order of Barristers.

"The civil justice system is a
maze filled with many obstacles. Our job is to help
our clients to overcome the obstacles and to safely
and successfully guide them through the maze. I enjoy
the challenges that such obstacles present and with
hard work and preparation, there is no obstacle too
great."
